So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word Psalm 119;142

Have you ever knelt on your knees and thanked your heavenly Father that you are not in prison? A pathetic letter from a young man who has loved the gospel, read the Bible, wanted to share Good News, to be a lay preacher or writer. He drove a taxi in a big city to make a living, but in an altercation lost his temper and got himself thrown into a Texas jail.

He's not begging for help to get out; no, he is weeping in shame and disgrace. He allowed some demon deep within to get loose. He had thought the demons were all gone; in the past he has lost his temper, now that he is a Christian it couldn't happen again. But it did!

Some totally innocent people are in prison, and God pities them. But there also some truly guilty people there; does God feel for them? Many Bible characters in prison were there unjustly-Joseph, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Paul the apostle. Where can we read of some guilty person in prison whom God was able to bless?

King David by right belonged on Death Row, and he knew it (read Ps 51). But God heard him. Peter blew it so badly that he wished he could die, felt himself totally unworthy ever to preach about Jesus, "wept bitterly" because some demon inside had used his lips to voice a denial of Christ. Peter had thought he was "saved," "rich and increased with goods [spiritually], and in need of nothing" (Lk 22:54-62; cf Rev 3:17). It was a devastating experience to realize at last how sinful he was. But he became truly converted.

And yes, there is one more. This man was not only in prison, he was led out to execution for actual crimes. No innocent man here dying unjustly-the thief on the cross deserved what he got. And he confessed it. But he ended up being crucified with Christ, and thank God! He believed what Jesus told him and he received the forgiveness Christ gave him.
