So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word Psalm 119;142

Did Jesus sin in thought

When a man sees a beautiful woman, in his mind there appears the idea of possessing her. For God's grace, he can refute the idea and he didn't sin. The doubt is: in Jesus' mind did the same idea also appear or not?

(1) Jesus was absolutely, totally sinless, "made to be sin for us, who knew no sin." "Which of you convinceth Me of sin? [no one!]" (2 Cor 5:21; Jn 8:46).

(2) Nevertheless, He was "in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" (Heb 4:15).

(3) He came "in the flesh," the same "flesh" that all mankind have (1 Jn 4:2).

(4) The Father "sent" Him "in the likeness of sinful flesh" so that He might "condemn sin in the flesh" (that same "flesh" we all have; Rom 8:3).

(5) Anyone who denies that Jesus came in this same "flesh is not of God."

(6) In fact, such is "Antichrist" (1 Jn 4:3).

(7) His condemning sin in fallen, sinful flesh gives us the victory over sin in our fallen, sinful flesh (Rom 8:4; Rev 3:21). He gained the victory so that He might become not only our Example but also be our Savior. "The wages of sin is death," and he became our Savior from that death (Good News! Rom 6:23).

(8) Temptation does not equal sin; Christ could "in all points [be] tempted like as we are tempted" and at the same time be totally sinless because He "refuted the idea," to borrow your expression. It is Satan, not Christ, who wants us to think that if we are tempted then automatically we must yield. Christ "refuted" temptation, resisting "unto blood, striving against sin"(Heb 12:3, 4).

(9) When time comes to an end, He will have a people ("144,000," literal or symbolic) who will have "overcome even as [Christ] overcame" (Rev 3:21; 14:1-5). Yet, like all mankind, they are sinners by nature; but they have chosen to believe "the gospel of Christ . . . [which is] the power of God unto salvation" (Rom 1:16).

(10) The Bible makes clear that in His incarnation Jesus was "a man" (the Greek word in Rev 12:5 means a male). Therefore, unless the Bible lies to us (unthinkable!), Jesus was "in all points tempted like as we are," being a real man, "yet without sin." One man, a believer in Him, was terribly tempted by an attractive woman, but through faith in Him "refuted" the temptation (see Gen 39:7-10).
