So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word Psalm 119;142

Two Views of Christ

There are two opposite views of Christ:

(a) The widespread, popular view:

1. He had a sinless nature, sinless flesh.

2. Why? His mother Mary experienced a miraculous "exemption" from inheriting our fallen, sinful nature or flesh. She gave her Son the same.

3. This is the "Immaculate Conception" dogma (promulgated 1854).

4. Thus Jesus "had" a sinless nature, sinless flesh "exempt" from inheriting genetically the same sinful nature or flesh we all have.

5. It follows logically therefore that it is impossible for sinful humans to "overcome even as [He] overcame."

6. Jesus must therefore save us in our sins; and no special preparation will characterize His people who await His second coming.

7. Thus no clearer understanding of the gospel will come in the last days beyond the understandings of past ages.

(b) The alternative view:

1. He "took" our fallen, sinful nature or flesh (Heb. 2:14-18).

2. Why? His mother was a normal human being with the same flesh or nature we all have (Lk. 1:46, 47).

3. Christ was "born of a woman," a descendant of Abraham, David, etc. (Gal. 4:4; Rom. 1:3).

4. Thus Christ was not "exempt" from the burdens we have to carry, but was "in all points tempted like [not unlike] as we are tempted" (Heb. 4:15).

5. By His grace humans can "overcome even as [He] overcame" (Rev. 3:21). It is not a works trip, but a faith trip (Eph. 2:8, 9).

6. The world is hungering for better Good News than they have heard-"the third angel's message in verity." It is gospel truth far beyond that known by past generations, for it is parallel to and consistent with the "cleansing of the sanctuary" (Dan. 8:14).

It's the best Good News the world will ever hear.
